WARNING:
For area under the curve (AUC) to calculate you must set left and right baselines prior to induction
in real-time or accept the auto-baseline value when prompted by the device (approximately 5
minutes after first valid rSO

data is received). Baselines should not be reentered at any other time
or the integrity of AUC will be compromised. Similarly, entering skin closure will cease calculation
of AUC.

Note:
For capturing cerebral oximetry metrics, the OR event list should be set (see section 6.5.8 Event Mark List ).
8.6.1
Marking the Induction Time
Baselines must be set before the induction time. Induction time is defined as the beginning of the
intubation process, prior to preoxygenation or heavy sedation. To select the current time as
induction time, use the OR event list (see section
Marking the Current Time as Induction Time in the
OR Event List ). To select an earlier time, use the Database summary screen (see section Marking the
Induction Time Using Tabular Data ).

To mark the induction event, press the HOME key to display the Main screen, then perform
the following navigation bar options:
The Enter induction time menu will be displayed, then perform the following navigation bar
options:
Use the NEXT PAGE/PREVIOUS PAGE menu options to scroll to the appropriate page and select
SCROLL MENU . Scroll to the time/rSO

value for induction time using the NEXT/PREVIOUS
menu options. Then, select SELECT TIME to enter the appropriate induction time (see Figure 8-
4. ).
A vertical dashed line and event code will appear on the Main screen at the induction time and
the AUC value in the data channel area will be displayed. The AUC value will be displayed as min-
percent (see
Figure 8-10. ).
