5) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified persons,
and only with original spare parts.
This guarantees the safety of the
electrical hand tool.
Specific safety rules for power scrapers
1. Use safety glasses to protect the eyes against spattering from the tool.
2. Do not use the power scraper on damp material.
3. Do not use the power scraper on surfaces or materials drenched in solvent.
Sparks from the appliance or tool can ignite the solvent or other inflammable
liquid or gas.
4. Tools get hot as they are used, which may cause solvent residue to vaporise
and give off gases dangerous to the health.
5. Make sure the workpiece on which you are using the appliance is held firmly
in place by a vice, a clamp, etc. to prevent accidents.
6. Do not use the power scraper on materials containing asbestos.
7. Always hold the scraper with both hands while working (see fig).
8. Keep your hands at a distance from the scraper blade when using the
appliance. If you get too close it could result in an accident if you slip.
9. The scraper blade has sharp edges. Use gloves.
10. Do not let children use the scraper.
11. Disconnect the plug from the mains when the
scraper is not in use, when you take a rest, before
you change the scraper bit and before cleaning.
12. Pull the plug immediately if the scraper smells or
sounds strange.
