Data Channel Overview
The COTS backplane uses redundant Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) transmit and receive buses and Serial
Communications buses (SCB) for data transfer and intra-shelf communications. Individual clock, data, and
synchronization buses originate from the PMX cards and terminate at each COLU position. The COTS provides the
signal connectivity and -48 V dc power distribution in the COTS. Figure 2 shows the backplane signal
interconnection.
