Adjust the gap (0.3-0.4mm) 

Hard to start 

1.

 

Throttle control not set properly.

Dirty air filter

Bad spark plug or improper gap

Stale or dirty fuel

Loose spark plug wire

Carburettor out of adjustment

Place throttle control in “Fast” 
position.

Clean or replace air filter. 

3.

 

Replace spark plug or adjust 
gap. 

4.

 

Drain fuel tank and 
carburettor, fill with fresh 
fuel. 

5.

 

Make sure plug wire is seated 
properly on plug. 

6.

 

Make necessary adjustments. 

When idling, the 
engine is too fast 

1.

 

Cold engine. 

1.

 

Heat up slowly, turn down the 
choke if necessary. 

The engine will not 
stop 

1.

 

The plug is pale grey with marks of 
white-hot (melting drops) 

2.

 

Carbon residue in the ignition area.

Fit in the plug of higher 
thermal value.

Clean the cylinder head,
