Keep the solar cell clean. Take particular care that it does not become dirty and that
it is kept free e.g. of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise, the solar cell does not catch
enough sunlight to charge the batteries.
Cold temperatures have a negative influence on the operating time of the battery,
which causes a reduced illumination period for the LED lamp. For a long, trouble-
free period of operation, we recommend storing the device in a dry, warm room dur-
ing the winter or when it is not used for a longer period. Put the operating switch to
“OFF” and clean the solar lamp. Remove the rechargeable battery from the solar
lamp if it is stored for a longer period.

Replacing the Batteries

Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
Please observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the bat-
teries.

Do not leave the battery lying around in the open; there is a risk they will be
swallowed by children or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor
immediately.

Make sure that the rechargeable battery is not short-circuited, opened or
thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion!

Only insert a rechargeable battery into the solar lamp, not normal batteries,
which cannot be charged. They might explode.

Chemical liquids can leak from old or used batteries, damaging the device. If
not used for a longer period (e.g. in case of storage), remove the inserted bat-
tery.

Leaking or damaged batteries may burn the skin if touched. Under these cir-
cumstances, protect your hands with suitable gloves.

Only use a rechargeable battery of the correct size and the recommended
type.

• Pull the light cover of the solar lamp off the stand tube.
• Turn the lower part of the light cover counter-clockwise.
• Pull off the lower part from the light cover.
• Put the operating switch to the ”OFF“ position.
• There are two battery cases in the light cover. However, the solar lamp is only operated with

one battery. Thus, only one battery case is equipped with metal contacts for the battery.
Open the appropriate battery case.

• Remove the rechargeable battery. Replace the latter with a new battery of the same type and

with the same capacity (take note of data on the original battery).

• Insert the new battery with the negative pole first, observing the correct polarity. The correct

polarity (plus and minus) is indicated by means of the marking inside the battery compartment.

• Close the battery case and re-assemble the solar lamp in reverse order.

If the inserted rechargeable battery is not completely charged, the solar lamp
needs approximately 36 - 48 hours of sunlight in order to charge it sufficient-
ly (see Start-up).

The batteries should be replaced, if the lamp lights up for a short period only at night even though
the batteries were sufficiently charged during the day.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The lamp does not require any maintenance apart from replacing the rechargeable batteries as
necessary. Only a professional repair shop should attempt to maintain or clean the device. The
surface of the device should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth or a dry brush. Do not
use abrasive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could damage the housing or impair
operation.

Disposal

Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements!

Disposal of Spent Rechargeable Batteries

As a consumer you are required (Battery Ordinance) to responsibly dispose of all
used batteries and rechargeable batteries; it is forbidden to throw them away
with the normal household waste!
Batteries / rechargeable batteries containing
harmful substances are marked with the following symbols, to indicate that dispos-
al in the domestic waste is forbidden.

The designations for the hazardous metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb
= Lead. (The markings are printed on the batteries e.g. under the left-hand side
waste symbols).

You can return used batteries/storage batteries free of charge to any collecting facil-
ity of your local authority, to our stores or to any other store where rechargeable bat-
teries are sold.
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to protect-
ing the environment!
