e) Making a cappuccino

You can make a cup of cappuccino by topping a cup of espresso with frothed milk.
Note: When making steam, the metal funnel must be assembled in position.
1.  Follow the steps in “MAKE ESPRESSO COFFEE” to prepare an espresso, and make sure

that the steam knob is at the “O” position.

2.  Press the coffee/steam button “

” to the lower position and wait until the steam indicator

(green) turns on.

3.  Fill a jug with about 100 grams of milk for each cappuccino. For best results, use whole milk

at refrigerator temperature (i.e. not hot).

4.  For best results, keep the steam knob in the open position for approx. 15 seconds and then

keep the knob at the “O” position for the next step.

5.  Insert the steam wand about 2 cm into the jug with milk in it, and then slowly turn the steam

knob anticlockwise. Steam will come out from the steam wand and frothed milk is produced

by moving the milk jug up and down.
Note: Never touch the steam outlet during use.
Note: Never turn the steam knob rapidly, as steam will accumulate rapidly in a short time

which may increase the risk of explosion.

6.

When you have finished frothing the milk, turn the steam knob to the “O” position.

7.  After frothing, follow the instructions below to prevent the steam outlet from becoming

blocked:
Place an empty jug under the steam wand and then turn the steam knob and press the
pump control button “

” to the lower position. The pump will start to pump water. After

water has flowed for 30 seconds, press the pump control button “

 ” to the higher

position, and then clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge.

8.  Press and release the ON/OFF button “

” to turn off power to the appliance.

9.  Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso. Sweeten if desired and sprinkle the froth

with a small amount of cocoa powder.
Note: If the steam outlet is blocked, turn the steam knob to the “O” position and allow the

coffee maker to cool down for approximately half an hour. Poke the steam outlet several
times with a needle of about 1 mm in diameter. Then press the coffee/steam button “

 ”

and turn the steam knob to check if the appliance can produce steam normally when the

steam indicator (green) turns on. If the appliance still cannot produce steam, contact the

customer service department.

f) Frothing milk/producing steam to heat liquids

The steam wand can be used to froth milk and make hot beverages such as drinking chocolate,

water or tea.
1.

Remove the tank and fill it with the desired amount of water (the water level should not

exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank). Then insert the tank into the appliance.

2.  Connect the appliance to the power supply.

3.  Press the ON/OFF button “

” to turn on the unit. The power indicator (red) will turn on.

4.  Press the pump control button “

” to the lower position, making sure that the coffee/

steam button “

” is at the higher position. The pump will start to pump water. When

water starts to flow, turn off the pump immediately.

5.  Press the coffee/steam button “

” to the lower position and wait for a moment. The

appliance will start to heat. Wait until the (green) lamp turns on, which means that heating

is finished.

6.  Dip the steam wand into the liquid to be heated. To froth milk, dip the steam wand about

2 cm into the milk. Slowly turn the steam knob anti-clockwise to start making steam.

7.  When you have obtained the desired result, turn the steam knob to the “O” position.
8.  After frothing, follow the instructions below to prevent the steam outlet from becoming

blocked:
Place an empty jug under the steam wand and then turn on the steam knob and press
the pump control button “

” to the lower position. The pump will start to pump water.

After water has flowed for 30 seconds, press the pump control button “

 ” to the higher

position, and then clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge.

9.  Press and release the ON/OFF button “

” to turn off the power source.

Note: If the steam outlet is blocked, turn the steam knob to the “O” position and allow the

coffee maker to cool down for approximately half an hour. Poke the steam outlet several
times with a needle about 1 mm in diameter, and then press the coffee/steam button “

 ”

and turn on the steam knob to check if the appliance can produce steam normally when the

steam indicator (green) turns on. If the appliance still cannot produce steam, contact the

customer service department.

g) Automatic power-off function

The appliance will turn off automatically 25 minutes after the ON/OFF button is pressed.

Care and cleaning

a) Cleaning

Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions.

They damage the housing and can cause the product to malfunction.

Do not immerse the product in water.

1.  Disconnect the product from the mains before cleaning.
2.  Let the coffee maker cool down completely.
3.  Regularly clean the housing, water tank, drip tray and removable shelf with a moisture-proof

sponge, and then leave them to dry.
Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleaner. Never immerse the housing in water

for cleaning.

4.  Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise. Dispose of coffee residue and then clean

with a mild detergent before rinsing with clear water. Do not wash the metal funnel in

a dishwasher.

5.  Clean all the attachments in water and dry thoroughly.

Note: To ensure optimal function, clean the appliance after each use.

b) Descaling

To ensure optimal function and coffee flavour, it is recommended to descale the appliance

every 1-2 months.
1.  Fill the tank with water and descaler to the MAX level (use a ratio of 4:1 for water and

descaler). For details, refer to the instructions on the descaler packaging. For best results,

use household descaler. You can also use citric acid (available from a chemist or drug

store), using one hundred parts water to three parts citric acid.

2.  Place the metal funnel (without coffee powder) and carafe (jug) in place and brew water in

accordance with the steps in the “PREHEATING” section.

3.  Press the ON/OFF button “

” to turn on the unit. The power indicator (red) will turn on.

Press the pump control button “

” to the lower position, making sure that the coffee/

steam button “

” is at the higher position. When water begins to flow, turn off the pump

by pressing the pump control button “

”. The coffee maker will then start to heat up.

4.  The coffee indicator (green) will turn on when preheating is complete. Press down the pump

control button “

” to the lower position and make two cups of coffee (about 2 Oz). Then

turn off the pump and wait for 5 seconds.

5.  Press the coffee/steam button “

” to the lower position and wait until the green indicator

turns on. Make steam for 2 minutes and then turn the steam knob to the “O” position to stop
making steam. Press the ON/OFF button “

” to turn off the unit, and then leave the

descaler in the unit for at least 15 minutes.

6.  Restart the unit and repeat steps 4-6 at least 3 times.
7.  Press and release the coffee/steam button “

” to the higher position. When the green

indicator turns on, press down the pump control button “

” to the lower position until no

descaler is left.

8.

Brew coffee (without coffee powder) with tap water filled to the MAX level and repeat steps

4-6 three times (it is not necessary to wait 15 minutes as in step 6), and then brew until no

water is left in the tank.

9.  Repeat step 9 at least three times to make sure the piping is clean.
