CAUTION
The voltage tester may not be used
with an open battery compartment.
If the batteries are flat, the voltage test
-
er can no longer be used.
Do not dispose of used batteries in the
normal household rubbish. Please take
the batteries to the return and collec
-
tion points that are provided for that
purpose.
Function test/battery test (Pict. B)
• Short-circuit the test probes, press and hold
the TEST button (8). Initially the whole LED
chain must briefly light up.
• Then only the +6 V step display (5) remains il
-
luminated.
• If the +6 V step display flashes during this test,
the batteries must be changed at the next pos
-
sible opportunity.
• The LED chain will blink to indicate that the
batteries must be changed during all further
voltage/continuity tests.
Switchable test probe tip lighting
(Pict. B)
• The test probe tip lighting (types 1155/56) can
be manually turned on by pressing the TEST
button (8) and shorting the test probes (2)
once.
• The lighting is turned on as long as the button
is pressed.
Operating modes
Continuity testing (Pict. C)
• Before performing a continuity test, external
voltages should be switched off and capacitors
discharged if appropriate.
• Short-circuit the test probes (2), press and hold
the TEST button (8).
• Touch the item to be tested with the test
probes (2).
• With a resistance of < 500 kOhm, the +6 V
LED will light.
• Any induced voltages present do not affect the
continuity test and do not lead to the destruc
-
tion of the device.
Semiconductor test (Pict. D)
• For a polarity-dependent continuity test (semi-
conductor testing), the internal test voltage is
passed to the test probes (2) when the TEST
button (8) is operated.
• Please observe the polarity symbols (3) (+/-)
on the test probes.
• If there is continuity, the +6 V LED will light up.
Phase testing (Pict. E)
NOTE
In unfavourable locations, such as on
a wooden ladder or a non-conductive
floor and in not correctly grounded AC
networks, the phase test cannot be
carried out.
• To carry out the phase testing, place the test
probe (2) marked (3) (-) on the phase (> 90 V
AC) of the AC network, and touch the phase
test contact (9) on the display handle with the
thumb.
• If phase is present, the 6 V step display (+ and
-) lights up.
