The product consists of a base station for displaying the measured data and an outdoor sensor, which wirelessly
transmits the temperature and air humidity values to the base station by radio.
The base station takes the date and the time from the DCF time signal. However, it can also be set manually (e.g.
when there are reception problems).
Any use other than described above may damage the product, there may also be other dangers. Observe all the
safety instructions in these operating instructions.
Read these operating instructions completely and carefully, they contain very important information about installation,
operation and handling. Observe all safety instructions!

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use or
non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases the warranty will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modi
fi
cation of the product is inadmissible because of safety
and approval reasons (CE). Never open/dismantle it (except as described in this manual for inserting/
changing the batteries).
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the outdoor sensor emits only
relatively weak radio signals, these may lead to the malfunction of life-support systems. The same
may also be the case in other areas.
•
The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. The product contains small parts,
glass (display) and batteries. Position the product, so it is out of the reach of children.
•
The base station is only suitable for dry, enclosed indoor areas. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, strong
heat, cold, damp or wet; otherwise it may be damaged.
• The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It must not be used in or under
water, this will destroy it.
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g., during transport), condensation may be
produced. This could damage the product.
Wait until the product has reached room temperature before using it. This may take several hours.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops the operation of the product is to be
supervised by trained employees.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even from a
low height.
General information on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/-).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swal-
lowed consult a doctor immediately, it can be fatal!
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into a
fi
re. There is a
risk of
fi
re and explosion!
•
Old or
fl
at batteries can leak liquid chemicals that may damage the device. Therefore, if the device is not to be used
for a long time (e.g. storage), remove any batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns; therefore, use
suitable protective gloves.
• Only use batteries/rechargeable batteries of the correct size and the recommended type.
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Use either 2 batteries or 2 rechargeable batteries; never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries. Al-
ways use batteries/rechargeable batteries of the same type and from the same manufacturer. Do not mix batteries/
rechargeable batteries with different charges (
fl
at and half-discharged batteries/rechargeable batteries).
Getting Started

Because of the lower voltage provided by rechargeable batteries (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery
= 1.2 V) and their lower capacity, the battery life is shorter. Moreover, rechargeable batteries are more
temperature sensitive than normal batteries. For this reason, we recommend the product be only used
with high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure a long and safe operation.
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the outdoor sensor and insert two batteries of type AA/Mignon with
the correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the base station and insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro with the
correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.

After the batteries are inserted in the base station, all display segments will be shown brie
fl
y; then the base station
starts to search for available outdoor sensors. In the upper left of the display, the reception symbol “
”
fl
ashes.
During this time, do not move the base station or press any buttons.

The base station can receive and display measured values from up to 3 outdoor sensors. One outdoor
sensor is included in the package; others are available as accessories.
The outdoor sensor enclosed is set permanently to Channel 1; this cannot be changed. If you add
further outdoor sensors, make sure that you set them to Channel 2 or 3 (each sensor must be set to a
different channel).
• After about 2 minutes, the sensor search ends. The base station then begins to search for the DCF signal. To the
left of the time, the reception symbol “
”
fl
ashes. It can take about 5 minutes, until the time signal has been
detected and analysed and the correct time appears in the display. During this time, do not move the base station
or press any buttons.
• If the correct time still has not been displayed after about 10 minutes, change the setup location and start a new
search for the DCF signal (see below).
• There is a hole on the back side of the external sensor to hang it by means of a screw or a nail on a wall. It can
also be placed on a level horizontal surface by means of the standing base which is on the bottom of the casing.

The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It should be placed such so it is not
exposed to direct sunlight, since this can result in a false temperature reading.
Precipitation falling on the sensor will also lead to a false temperature reading, since this cools the
housing.
Never dip the outside sensor in or under water; this may destroy it!
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully, so the sensor measures the correct tem-
perature.
• The base station can be hung from a nail, hook or screw, using the attachment hole on the back.
Alternatively, the stand on the back can be folded out. Place the base station on a
fl
at, stable surface. Protect
valuable furniture surfaces by using a suitable mat.
Switching DCF Signal On/Off, Starting Manual Search
The DCF signal is a signal broadcast from a transmitter in Main
fl
ingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2,000 km. Among other things, the DCF signal includes
the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a million years!) and the date. Of course, this eliminates the tedi-
ous manual setting of summer and winter time on the weather station, since the time change occurs automatically.
The
fi
rst attempt to receive the DCF signal is performed when the batteries are inserted. Further reception attempts
occur automatically at 0:00, 03:00, 06:00 and 12:00 hours. Just one successful reception per day keeps the deviation
of the quartz clock built in the base station to less than one second.
• If you want to set the date and time manually (e.g. if no DCF reception is possible, such as in a cellar), the DCF
reception must be turned off. Press and hold the “
▲
” button for about 3 seconds, until the DCF symbol to the left
of the time disappears. To then set the date and time, see the appropriate sections of this operating manual.
• To switch it on again, press and hold the “
▲
” button for about 3 seconds once again. The base sta-
tion will then start a new search for the DCF signal. This takes about 5 minutes; the DCF symbol “
”

ashes. During this time, do not move the base station or press any buttons.
Manual Search for Outdoor Sensors
On the base station, you can start a manual search for available outdoor sensors, e.g. when you want to connect a
second or third sensor to the base station or after a battery change (a point “•” instead of the symbols “
” indi-
cates that data reception has not been possible for one hour, this means the batteries in the outdoor sensor are

• Start the sensor search by pressing and holding the “

” button for about 3 seconds, until the “
” symbol in the
upper left of the display

• The sensor search lasts about 2 minutes, the search process the ends automatically.

• Press and hold the “MODE” button, until the language for the weekday indication

display.

The DCF symbol “
” thereby changes to the symbol “
”. This shows that the date or time is no
longer as accurate as DCF (regardless of whether or not you change the date and/or the time).
The date and time are corrected again on the next successful reception attempt; the symbol “

pears in the display.
Important:
If you decide to set the date and time manually, switch off the DCF reception, so your date
and time setting will not be overwritten accidentally by a successful DCF reception.

The settings for the language for displaying the weekday, the temperature unit °C/°F and the 12h/24h
mode are retained.
