Keel Offset
For all fishfinders, the transducer is installed underwater. So, there is a distance from the
transducer surface to water surface. And the sonar unit only detects the distance from
transducer surface to bottom. So, the depth display on the screen is not the actual water
depth.
For example, if the transducer is installed 2feet below the water surface, and the screen
shows the water depth as 40feet, then the actual water depth is 42feet. By Keel Offset, you
can calibrate the depth displayed on the screen. First, measure the distance from the
transducer surface to water surface, then set a value (for example, 3.5feet).
