All posts and pipe are prepared with enough length to accommodate 12" deep impact 
attenuating ground cover. Component Playgrounds recommends that 12" of impact 
attenuating surfacing be placed under and around the playground and any adjacent 
structures. 

Playground equipment should not be installed over hard surfaces

 

such 

as concrete, asphalt or grass.

 

 
If the specifications on your project call for less ground cover, you may simply cut the 
pipe to the desired length or you may dig the holes deeper. Please refer to the ASTM 
Designation: F 1487 - 05 Standard Safety Performance Specification for Playground 
Equipment for Public Use, or you may also refer to the CPSC guidelines for public and 
commercial playgrounds for more information regarding surfacing requirements.
