Operating the AIT Drive

Forcing the Ejection of a Cassette

CAUTION:  You can lose data if you force the ejection of a cassette or the cassette can
end up invalidly formatted because End of Data (EOD) may not have been written.
Force an ejection only as a last resort; never use it as a quick way to eject the cassette.

A cassette can be forced to eject when immediate ejection is required, even at the risk
of losing data. To eject a cassette immediately, hold the eject button down for at least 5
seconds. The cassette is immediately unthreaded and the cassette is ejected, regardless
of what operation the drive was performing.

WARNING:  There is a risk of electrical shock. If a cassette is jammed inside the
drive, do not attempt to open the tape drive. Refer all service to a Compaq
authorized service provider.
