Switch Settings
When a component is added, removed, or not functioning properly, check the
server switch settings. In some cases, the switch settings must be reconfigured
manually in order for the server to recognize changes.
If the switch configurations are incorrect, the system may not work properly
and may display error messages. Setting and verifying the system board
switches is an important part of the overall troubleshooting process.
Compaq ProLiant DL580 servers have three switch banks:
■
SW1—a six-position system maintenance switch on the peripheral
board
■
SW4—a four-position processor configuration switch on the system
board
■
SW6—a four-position service switch on the system board
This chapter provides figures and tables to show the locations, positions,
functions, and settings for each of these switches.
