Using the CD-ROM
Drive
Some Compaq Deskpro 4000S models feature a Slimline 20X
CD-ROM drive. The drive is a random access, read-only
storage device capable of retrieving data from removable
compact disc media, which can store up to 680 megabytes of
digital information. The components on the front panel of the
drive are shown and described in Chapter 1, “The Computer at a
Glance.”
Inserting and Removing a CD-ROM or Compact Disc
With the computer turned on, you can insert a disc by pressing
the CD-ROM Eject Button on the front panel of the drive. Put
the CD into the CD-ROM tray and press the tray back in.
The drive performs a diagnostic check and automatically begins
reading the table of contents.
✎
The disc automatically ejects if it is upside down, not
properly aligned in the drive, or if any other condition
prevents the drive from reading the disc.
