1.

Ask the network administrator if settings are configured automatically or if
proxy server information must be entered.

2.

From the Tools menu select Internet Options… The Internet Options dialog
box displays.

3.

Select the Connections tab. Near the bottom click the LAN Settings…
button. The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box displays.

4.

Based on the network administrator’s answer in step 1, do one of the
following:

• 

In the Automatic configuration section click the checkbox labeled
Automatically detect settings (Figure 6–9). Click OK.

• 

In the Proxy server section click the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server
(Figure 6–10). In the Address box enter the proxy server address for
your site. Click the checkbox labeled Bypass proxy server for local
addresses. Click OK.
