• Carryall 272:
2.1. Tilt the bed and ensure that the prop rod is properly engaged. See WARNING “For vehicles with
cargo beds...” on page 10.
• Carryall 472:
2.2. Remove the rear bench seat.
2.3. Raise the cargo bed.
3. Lift the front passenger seat.
4. Restore fuel system to operation. See Figure 27 or Figure 28 on page 36.
4.1. Remove plug from fuel tank vent.
4.2. Connect vent tube to fuel tank vent.
5. Connect battery cables, positive (+) cable first, and tighten terminals to 20 ft-lb (27.1 N·m). Coat termi-
nals with Battery Terminal Protector Spray (CCI P/N 1014305).
6. Completely open the fuel shut-off valve (Figure 15). Make sure the valve is fully open. A partially closed
fuel shut-off valve combined with the use of the choke can result in a fouled spark plug and engine failure
(Figure 16).
7. Place the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL position. Crank the engine until fuel is pumped into
the carburetor and fuel lines and the engine starts. Turn the engine off. See following NOTE.
NOTE: Due to the oil added to the engine in preparation for storage, engine may smoke excessively for a
short time when it is run for the first time after storage.
8. Perform the Pre-Operation and Daily Safety Checklist on page 17.
9. Lower the passenger side seat.
• Carryall 272:
9.1. Lower the cargo bed. See WARNING “For vehicles with cargo beds...” on page 10.
• Carryall 472:
9.2. Replace the rear bench seat.
9.3. Lower the cargo bed.
10. Adjust tires to recommended tire pressure. See Vehicle Specifications on page 40.
