Engine Oil Filling
1.
Add engine oil
(Figure 26)
. With filter change, the engine requires 3 qt (2.8 L) of oil for diesel vehicles. Refer to
oil viscosity guidelines for selection of oil grade
(Figure 27)

CAUTION
• Do not exceed recommended oil capacity. Doing so will decrease engine performance or result in
damage to the engine.

Install the oil filler cap.
3.
Connect battery.
See Connecting the Battery – Diesel Vehicles on page 13.

With the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL position, start and run the engine for three minutes and check
for leaks. Observe both the drain plug and the oil filter from under the vehicle and watch for oil leaks. If the filter
leaks, tighten an additional 1/4 turn and retest. If the oil drain plug leaks, re-torque and retest.
NOTE:
Wait a few minutes after turning off the engine before removing the dipstick.
5.
Remove the dipstick and check the engine oil as a final step. Replace the dipstick.
