This jack is set at the factory to provide bias voltage for electret mics, though a setting for a dynamic mic may also be
selected,.

NOTE: Due to their design, use of multiple mobile phone type headsets in a system could adversely affect
nulling, crosstalk, and overall system performance.

External Setup Connector

This 3.5mm connector is located on the side of the beltpack, just below the Setup button.  It sends and receives RS-
232 data for advanced programming with a PC running V-Pack

TM

software.  The VPC-1 cable or equivalent is

required for connection from the PC to this jack.  The VPC-1 is a DB-9 female to the tip-ring-sleeve 3.5mm plug.
Contact your dealer or the Clear-Com factory for info about obtaining a cable.

Setup  Button

This blue side-panel button is pressed and held down for approximately 3 seconds to enter Setup. Once the Setup
function is active, if  no action is taken with 7 seconds, the function will cancel.

Setup LED ( 7 )

Seven-segment LED display that activates when Setup button is held for more than 3 seconds.  If no action is taken
within 7 seconds, display goes out.

Talk Light ( 5 )

This is a green light that illuminates when the Talk is active.  It also used to indicate status of a function when on-
board Setup is used.

Call Light ( 6 )

This is a red light that will illuminate when the beltpack receives a call signal (subject to programming options).

XLR Release Button ( 12 )

Press this button to release a male XLR plug from the jack.

5. Setup

Your RS-600 Series beltpack can be changed from the factory default settings in one of two ways: with a PC or on the
beltpack itself. Different Setups can be stored in the beltpack’s on-board memory.  Setup from a PC is better if you
need access to the full range of available feature options or if you are setting up multiple beltpacks.  On-board Setup
is convenient if you need to make a quick change to one or a number of beltpacks and/or a PC computer is not
conveniently available.

For PC Setup, you must first install the V-Pack

TM

software on your PC.  Once installed, connect the beltpack to the

computer’s serial port.  The beltpack end requires a 3.5mm (1/8”) plug.  The other end is a DB-9 female. The cable
must be capable of carrying RS-232 data. Clear-Com offers this cable as the VPC-1. Note that the beltpack needs to
be plugged into an active intercom line (for termination) and receiving 12-32V DC power.  This can be from the
intercom system or a stand alone power supply or main station. Connect the beltpack to the PC.

Open the program and make your selections.  If using a custom configuration for multiple beltpacks, use Beltpack
Cloning to upload the selections to multiple beltpacks (one at a time).

For more detailed instructions on use of the software, see the V-Pack

TM

manual. Both the software and manual can

be downloaded free from the Clear-Com Web site.  A factory CD-ROM is also available for purchase through your
dealer or direct from Clear-Com.

Onboard Setup

For onboard Setup, the beltpack can remain plugged into the system.  Onboard Setup allows you to select one of four
Modes for the beltpack and to alter a number of specific parameters or Options. Mode 1 is the default for the
beltpack.

All four modes have similar settings from the factory, though some slight variations are included.  These can be edited
and saved.  The beltpack will store these configurations in non-volatile memory until they are changed or the beltpack
is reset to factory default.
