E. Cutting a Groove
A unique feature of this saw is its ability to produce grooves, both straight and angled.
A special plate, indicated in Fig. 8a and an adjuster are used, as follows:
Fig. 8
Fig.8a
Firstly, determine the depth of your
groove, and subtract this value from the
thickness of your workpiece. This will give
you the height above the table surface
at which the saw blade must be set
Ideally, place a template or a piece of wood,
the same thickness as the saw blade height
setting, on the table, beneath the saw blade.
Pivot the groove plate to the position shown
in Fig.9a.
Undo the adjuster locking ring and screw out
the adjuster, then lower the head so that it
lightly touches the template or is at the
correct height as determined using a rule.
Screw down the adjuster so that it touches the
groove plate, then finally tighten the locking ring.

The saw blade is now set to cut your groove, using the sliding feature. The width of the
groove will, of course, be the width of the saw blade. However, by moving the workpiece
along the table in small increments, each time making a cut, it is possible to cut grooves
to any desired width.
Angled grooves may be cut by tilting the head to the appropriate angle.
Before reverting to normal cutting, remember to turn the groove plate to its normal
position as shown in Fig.9.
