• Putting on the cuff is one of the m ost im portant tasks for

ensuring proper m easurem ent of blood pressure. Wind
the cuff around the arm  and tighten it so that one finger
m ay be inserted between the cuff and arm .

• Do NOT m easure blood pressure after bathing or drink-

ing.

• When you feel like relieving yourself, you should do so

before m easuring blood pressure.

• M easure blood pressure where the room  tem perature is

about 20˚C. Do NOT m easure blood pressure when it is
too cold (below 10˚C) or too hot (above 40˚C) in the room.

• Do NOT m easure blood pressure im m ediately after drink-

ing coffee or tea or sm oking.

• M easure blood pressure w ith a relaxed and quiet pos-

ture.  Keep the center of the cuff at the level of your heart,
and do NOT m ove your arm  or talk during m easurem ent.

• Do NOT keep on m easuring so m any tim es, as your arm

will have built up congestion of blood, and you will not
get a valid reading.

PRECAUTION FOR USE AND M AINTENANCE

Precautions for use

• If you suffer from  heart disease, high blood pressure or

other circulatory disease, please consult your doctor first.

• If you feel abnorm al pressure of the cuff during use or

any other irregularity, reduce the pressure by im m edi-
ately switching off the power or rem oving the batteries
and consult the sales outlet where purchased.

• If you think the m easured value is abnorm al or if m easur-

ing m akes you feel unwell, discontinue use and consult
your doctor.

• M easurem ent of blood pressure m ay not be possible for

som eone with a weak pulse or arrhythm ia.

• Congestion, swelling, etc. m ay occur in som e people.
• If blood pressure is m easured repeatedly, an accurate re-

sult will not be achieved. An interval of about 10 m inutes
should be allowed.

• The m em or y is erased if the batteries are rem oved for

replacem ent, etc. and a record should be kept of any nec-
essary data.

Precautions for maintenance

• Do NOT store the blood pressure m onitor where it will be

exposed to direct sunlight, high tem perature (over 60˚C),
low  tem perature (below  –20˚C), high relative hum idity
(over 95% ) or in a dusty place.

• Do NOT expose the blood pressure monitor to under force

or vibration, or drop it.

• Remove the battery/batteries when not in use for a long pe-

riod.

• Do NOT disassem ble the apparatus.
• Do NOT bend the cuff or air hose unnecessarily.
• NEVER wipe the blood pressure m onitor with thinner or

benzene, as they m ay dam age it.
