Chapter 4 Troubleshooting the Installation

Performing Other Configuration Tasks

This command sequence saves the new contents of the software configuration
register to NVRAM, but these new settings do not take effect until you reload or
reboot the router.

Step 5

Enter the

show version

privileged EXEC command to display the software

configuration register value currently in effect. This value will be used the next
time the router reloads. The value is displayed on the last line of the screen
display, as in the following example:

Step 6

Save the software configuration register settings as described in the

“Problem

Solving with Subsystems” section on page 4-14

.

Note

Configuration register changes take effect only after the system reloads,
such as when you enter a

reload

command from the console.

Reboot the router.
