Starting the Generator

1. Check oil level by pulling out the oil dip stick. add oil if necessary.
Never run with
low or no oil.
2. open the Gas valve by turning it counterclockwise until it stops. refer to the
Generator Engine Controls photo on page 13.
3. Place the locking key into the ignition and turn the on/off switch to the on position.
4. if the Engine is cold, pull the Choke Control rod. otherwise, continue with the next
step.

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST THE ENGINE’S THROTTLE! This engine
uses a governor device to automatically control the engine’s speed. If the
throttle is adjusted, it may result in decreased efficiency and/or damage to the
unit.
6. Turn (and hold) the locking key to the sTarT position until the engine starts.
release the locking key. Try again in a few minutes if it does not start immediately.

persist. Let the engine run for five minutes to warm up before applying the electrical
load.
