How to Inspect
When the restriction indicator is in
the red/orange
“ change ” zone,
replace the filter and reset the
restriction indicator. The air cleaner/
filter assembly is located at the front
of the engine compartment.
To inspect and replace the filter and
reset the restriction indicator:
1. Loosen the screws on the cover
of the housing and lift up the
cover.
2. Remove the air cleaner/filter
from the housing. Care should
be taken to dislodge as little dirt
as possible.
3. Clean the filter sealing surface
and the housing.
4. Install the new engine air
cleaner/filter.
5. Reinstall the cover and tighten
the screws.
6. Reset the air cleaner/filter
restriction indicator, if equipped,
by pressing the top button on the
indicator.

replace the engine air cleaner/filter.

WARNING
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner/filter off can cause you
or others to be burned. The air
cleaner not only cleans the air; it
helps to stop flames if the engine
backfires. Use caution when
working on the engine and do not
drive with the air cleaner/filter off.
Notice: If the air cleaner/filter is
off, dirt can easily get into the
engine, which could damage it.
Always have the air cleaner/filter
in place when you are driving.
