IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed including the following:
1. Read all instructions carefully.
2. Do not touch hot surface, use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord,
plug, Kettle or Kettle base in water or other liquid.
4. Do not use the appliance near a sink or wash basin.
5. Do not use the appliance with wet hands.
6. Do not use Kettle outdoors.
7. Never leave the appliance unattended during use.
8. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the kettle and understand the
hazards involved.
9. Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children, handicapped or
infirm. Children shall not play with the appliance.
10. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet.
To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove plug from wall outlet.
11. Always unplug the kettle from the electrical outlet when not in use and before
cleaning, to avoid accidental electrical shock. Allow to cool before cleaning and
storing away.
12. Always pull the plug – not the cord.
13. Do not let power cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
14. Do not bend the cord or wind it round the appliance.
15. Do not operate the kettle with a damaged cord or plug. If it malfunctions or has
been damaged in any manner, return the kettle to The Legacy Companies Service
Department for examination, repair or adjustment. Never attempt to make any
modifications to or repair the appliance yourself.
16. A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) should be used to
reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
17. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be
used if care is exercised in their use.
18. If longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension
cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a
grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so than it will not drape over the counter top
or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
