INSTALLATION

Choosing the position of your Electric Fire

Your new electric fire may be installed virtually anywhere in your home. When choosing a
location ensure that the general instructions are followed. For best results, install out of direct
sunlight.

WARNING!

Ensure curtains and other combustible furnishings are kept at least

3ft/0.9m from the front of the electric fire.

The appliance can be installed in a number of different ways.
1.  Incorporated in a marble, stone or timber fireplace.
2.

Set into an external cavity wall when using a fire surround with a 3” rebate.

3.  Set into an existing chimney breast with a stone or marble fascia.
4.  Set into a false chimney breast with a stone or marble fascia.

Typical construction of a false chimney breast

1.  Position and construct a framework as shown in figure 1.
2.  Allow sufficient width to accommodate your chosen fireplace and bear in mind that the

opening may need to be raised to suit the fireplace.

3.  If being used with a stone or marble fascia it is important to allow for the thickness of the

fascia when fixing the depth of the appliance in the opening

4.  Fix the appliance in the opening using the brackets supplied and level with shims if required.
5.  The chimney breast may be clad in combustible or non-combustible materials.

General installation considerations and guidance

Where the appliance is fitted into an existing chimney breast or into an external wall cavity, then
consideration should be given to ensure the appliance is protected from the risk of the ingress
of water.  This may be done by blocking the chimney or the cavity with rock wool tightly packed
into the void around and to the rear of the appliance or providing a suitable membrane to
protect the metal casing of the appliance.  Ensure the vents on the top and sides of the
appliance are not obstructed and can access free air.

This appliance can be installed via a fused spur or 13 Amp plug. The location of both must be
accessible for isolation.
