2. Status Indicator RAPs

 

RAP 2.18 Pump Relay 

Input 24, Output 3 

The pump motor relay (PM) switches on when 
the start button is pressed.  The relay switches 
off when either e-stop button is pressed, an error 
occurs, or trimmer goes into standby mode.  It is 
located at the lower left corner of the power 
panel.  

The IN24 input signals the processor that the re-
lay is activated.  The 24 VDC contact is a hold-
ing contact.  The 208/230 contacts enable the 
hydraulic motor.  The overload relay, OLH, is 
mounted to the pump relay. 

Possible Fault Indicators 

 

The hydraulic motor will not start 

 

Motor starter error! ON when 
it should be off

Motor starter error! OFF when 
it should be on 

is displayed

 

Initial Actions 

Check that both e-stop buttons are out, and all 
interlocked doors are securely closed. 

Procedure 

1.  Switch on the machine.  Is there 208/230 

between wires (M1 and M2) and (M1 and 
M3) and (M2 and M3) at the pump motor re-
lay, PM? 

Y  N 

Go to RAP 2.5 Input Power. 

2.  Switch off the main power.  Remove wires 

88 and 89 from the OLH relay.  Test continu-
ity between the contacts where 88 and 89 
were connected, OLH.  Does the resistance 
measure less than 2 Ω? 

Y  N 

Replace the overload relay, OLH (PL 5.15 
Power Panel EE-3306-1 (1/2)). 

3.  Switch on the machine.  Press A to enter 

sensor data mode.  Manually actuate the 
motor starter.  Does the motor switch on? 

Y  N 

Disconnect main power and replace the 
pump motor relay (PL 5.15 Power Panel EE-
3306-1 (1/2)). 

4.  Does input 24 change state when manually 

actuating the motor starter? 

Y  N 

Switch off main power.  Manually actuate 
the pump motor relay, PM, and test continu-
ity between wires 64 and 43.  Does the re-
sistance measure less than 2Ω? 

Y  N 

Repair broken wire or replace auxiliary 
contact on motor starter (PL 5.15 Power 
Panel EE-3306-1 (1/2)). 

Disconnect main power and replace the 
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment). 

5.  Short wire 128 at the pump motor relay to 74 

at the main PWB.  Does the relay actuate? 

Y  N 

Disconnect main power and replace the 
pump motor relay (PL 5.15 Power Panel EE-
3306-1 (1/2)). 

6.  Switch the machine off and on.  Is output 

LED 3 switched off? 

Y  N 

Disconnect main power and replace the 
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment). 

7.  Press the green start button.  Is output LED 

3 switched off? 

Y  N 

Disconnect main power and replace the 
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment). 

8.  Continue with RAP 2.17 Starter Circuit.
