Infrared Connector (CN6)
If you enable the COM2 Mode in BIOS's Integrated
Peripherals menu the COM2 port will support IR functions.
CPU/System Cooling Fan Connectors (CN4/CN10)
These added connectors allow the fan to draw their power
from the mainboard instead of the disk drive connector.
The board's management extension hardware is able to
detect the CPU and system fan speed in rpm (revolutions
per minute). These connectors supports 3-pin cooling
fans with minimum of 3500 RPM. The wiring and plug may
vary depending on the manufacturer. The red wire should
be positive (+12V), the black should be ground and the
yellow wire should be the rotation signal.
Management Extension Hardware for
SMART Technology
The optional management extension hardware provides low-cost instrumentation
capabilities. The hardware implementation is a single-chip ASIC (LM78) located in the
corner of your mainboard near the ISA slots. Its features include an integrated
temperature sensor, fan speed sensors, power supply voltage monitoring to detect
levels above or below acceptable values, and a header for an external chassis security
feature. If your mainboard does not have the LM78 chip, you can upgrade to LM78
status by obtaining a FAN78II-SMART technology upgrade kit. Contact your
mainboard dealer for details about this kit.
