SAFETY OF PERSONS
l
Dangerous voltage levels are present within the system. It should only be opened by qualified service
personnel.
l
The system must be properly grounded.
l
The battery supplied with the system contains small amounts of toxic materials. To avoid accidents,
the instructions listed below must be observed:
- Servicing of batteries should be performed by personnel knowledgeable about batteries and the
required precautions.
- When replacing batteries, replace with the same type and number of batteries or battery packs.
Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Instructions shall carry sufficient
information to enable the replacement of the battery with a suitable recommended type.
-
CAUTION:
Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode. Dispose of used batteries
according to the instructions.
- Do not open or damage batteries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin/eyes and may be
toxic.
-
CAUTION
– A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current. The
following precautions should be observed when working on batteries:
§
Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
§
Use tools with insulated handles.
§
Wear rubber gloves and boots.
§
Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
§
Disconnect the charging source before connecting or disconnecting battery terminals.
§
Determine if the battery is inadvertently grounded. If inadvertently grounded, remove the
source from the ground. Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in electrical
shock. The likelihood of such shock can be reduced if such grounds are removed during
installation and maintenance.
§
Failed batteries can reach temperatures that exceed the burn thresholds for touchable
surfaces.
