About the Instrument
The Microwave Accelerated Reaction System, Model MARS 6™, is designed for laboratory use in digestion and
extraction. The multiple mode cavity enables the processing of multiple samples in a single run or large batch
reactions. The power output on this particular system is programmable up to 1800 watts and uses an advanced
feedback system to monitor and control the rate of heating of the sample(s) in the cavity.
This manual is intended for use by both novice and experienced users for the operation and maintenance of
the instrument. Additional information, including but not limited to: training notes and videos, application notes,
software updates, and parts can be viewed on CEM’s website at www.cem.com.
The MARS 6 iWave® is designed to be operated as outlined in this manual. The iPrep®, EasyPrep™,
MARSXpress™, and MARSXpress Plus vessel series are the only approved vessels for this system.
This manual refers to MARS 6 software version 1.50 for all software information, including screenshots and
technical information. MARS 6 software version 1.49 or newer is required for operation.
This manual contains proprietary information which shall not be reproduced or transferred to other documents or
disclosed to others without prior written permission from CEM Corporation.
