8.4.1 Engine problems
Instructions on troubleshooting on the engine:
• All work on the engine may only be carried out by authorised experts, see the chapter
"Safety" > "Qualifications of personnel" (page 18). Contact the manufacturer if
necessary.
• Additional information on troubleshooting on the engine is provided in a separate oper-
ating manual. This manual is contained in the supplier documentation of this machine.

Problem
Possible Cause
Remedy
Engine does not start dur-
ing starting with the recoil
starter.
Engine Stop switch not reset
in starting position.
Pull engine Stop switch back into starting position.
Check engine Stop switch, Bowden cable and en-
gine switch and replace if necessary.
Speed adjustment lever not
in Start position
Move speed adjustment lever into Start position
Incorrect or no fuel in tank.
Drain off incorrect fuel and pour in correct diesel
fuel
Engine recoil starter not ad-
justed correctly or defective.
Check engine recoil starter and have adjusted or
repaired.
Cutting shaft blocked (cut-
ting shaft with saw blade
not raised out of cut).
Check smooth movement of cutting shaft and pro-
duce; raise saw blade out of cut.
Engine has no power.
Fuel system soiled or
defective.
Clean fuel system, have repaired.
Air filter soiled.
Replace air filter.
