De-commissioning and marking units as Destroyed
Decommissioning a unit
If a unit is no longer required on a given system, it can be decommissioned and made available again for use on
another system.
This can be achieved by selecting units from the ‘Authorized’ tab and clicking the ‘Decommission’ button. Confirm
and acknowledge as prompted.
The device will then appear on the ‘Available’ tab.
Decommissioning disassociates a serial number from any system and releases the address allocated to that unit.
Marking a unit as Destroyed
If a unit is definitely lost or damaged beyond repair, its address can be made available to use again on a new unit.
This is an important step, as there are strict limits on the number of units that can be assigned to a master
address. Only 15 PSD sub-addresses can be issued per master address.
Marking a unit as destroyed can be achieved by selecting units from th
e ‘Authorized’ tab, adding a reason in the
‘Destroy/Decommission Notes’ field, and clicking the ‘Destroy’ button. Confirm and acknowledge as prompted.
These devices will then appear on the ‘Destroyed’ tab.
NOTE:
Destroyed units cannot be returned to an available state.
Marking a unit as Destroyed deletes its serial number from the database and makes its address allocations
available for use.
