The WebGUI provides a powerful, easy-to use browser interface that allows user to log
in to the perform system management, monitoring, and IPMI tasks. Users only need to install
Java Client appliance when first time to use it.
■ Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) v2.0
Supporting Secure Shell (SSH), User can establish secure remote control of the server,
monitor the status of hardware components remotely, monitor system logs, receive reports
from replaceable components, and redirect the server console.
■ Remote Console/Java™ Client
The Java Client supports the Remote Console functionality, which allows user to access
server’s console remotely. It redirects the keyboard, mouse, and video screen, and can
redirect input and output from the local machine’s storages such as CD and hard disk drives.
5.4 Using LOM WebGUI
This section describes how to use the LOM WebGUI.
■ 5.4.1 Overview of WebGUI Features
The Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables user to monitor and manage remote
systems. Using an Internet browser, user can expect to be up and running the WebGUI in
minutes. One of the features of LOM is the ability to redirect the server's graphical console to
a remote workstation or laptop system. When user redirects the host console, user can
configure the remote system's keyboard and mouse to act as the server's mouse and
keyboard. User can also configure the diskette drive or CDROM drive on the remote system
as a device virtually connected to the server. User can also redirect CD-ROM images for
remote access.
■ 5.4.2 Requirements before using WebGUI
The WebGUI has been tested successfully with recently released Internet Explorer web
browsers, and may be compatible with other web browsers.
Notice: Users need Java™ software on the client to perform redirection.
■ 5.4.3 Users and Privileges
Users can perform basic software provisioning after log in WebGUI, Intelligent Platform
Management Interface (IPMI) tasks, and system monitoring. LOM user accounts include a
role which defines what can do.
Administrator - Enables access to full functions, and commands.
