Patchy coverage
If not set correctly, the Speedcote can produce wax coverage that is patchy and not 100%. If this
happens, please check the following and make the necessary adjustments;
1.
There are two triangle steps in each corner in the back of the tray and the full level in
front. They are all the same height. To see if it is level left to right, look at the wax level
versus the two triangle steps. To see if it is level front to back, look at the level versus
the triangles and the full step in front. If need be, place shims under the feet at the
bottom of the Speedcote to level it out. Even if it is at the full level, add some more wax
so it is about 1/8" above the full level.
2.
Increase the temperature using the temperature control knob. Rotating it clockwise
increases the temperature.
3.
Also it is important to keep the entire coating roller hot. Consequently, when you first
start using it in the morning or if you have not used it for a while during the day, turn
on the motor for 30 seconds before you use it to get the roller hotter.
4.
If you are using it to coat multiple prints, then leave the motor running and you will find
any stringiness should be reduced or eliminated. Also make sure you keep the wax
level up to keep the roller hot. The wax should not come off on your fingers and will
not at the correct temperature.
