Connecting the MSMP to the Amplifier
Inside the module well of the Carver Professional CV or ZR Series amplifier locate the terminated
twenty conductor flat ribbon cable. The connector is keyed to fit into the twenty pin receptacle on
the MSMP module in only one direction. Plug the ribbon cable into the receptacle taking care not
to bend any of the pins. The connector should insert easily. If any resistance is encountered please
double check the orientation of the termination on the ribbon cable in relationship to the receptacle.
Input Connections
Input #1 uses both a pair of unbalanced RCA connectors (See Figure 5) that are summed mono
and a Euro-Style connector that provides a balanced line level input (See Figure 3). The Euro-
Style connector’s input is summed again with the pair of RCA connectors.
If you had, as an example, the left and right output of a AM/FM Tuner with an output voltage of
400mV, the summed signal would have a combined voltage of up to 800 mV, and you should
set the input sensitivity at JP101 at 0dB (0.775Vrms). If you were to add to that combination
another line level signal into Input #1 via the Euro-Style connector , with a line voltage of 0.775Vrms
your combined voltage at Input #1 would be 1.575Vrms and the input sensitivity for Input #1
should be set at JP101 at +6dB (1.55Vrms).

The illustrations above show how to connect a balanced or unbalanced signal to the MP42.
Please note that polarity is important to the absolute phase of the output signal.
