1.1 µAD
The µAD remote terminal is an electronic device for the adjustment of air-conditioning units, managed
by ‘Micro Chiller 2’ (µC
2
) and ‘Micro Chiller 2 Second Edition’ (µC
2
SE) series CAREL controls.
µAD distinguishes itself for its cured aesthetics and user-friendliness (large LCD). Moreover, it has an
internal temperature probe and some models also have a humidity probe and an RTC (Real Time Clock).
1.2 Models and main functions
Depending on the model, it is possible to have the following functions:
• management of the temperature set point: present in all µAD models;
• sleep mode (energy saving): present in all µAD models;
• management of the humidity set point: only in models with humidity probe and with µC
2
SE;
• time management: only in models with RTC;
• µChiller alarms display (in models with buzzer, by setting En02=2, it is possible also to enable the
“beep” in the case of an alarm).
Attention. The use and enabling of the functions are connected to the setting of parameters (see
following chapters).

1.4 Defi nitions and Abbreviations
Brief defi nition of most common terms and abbreviations:

:
abbreviation of CAREL Micro Chiller 2.
•µC

SE:
abbreviation of CAREL Micro Chiller 2 Second Edition.
•Chiller
: generator of cooled water.
•Compensation:
µAD function can be activated using the Co01 parameter, which intervenes on the
µC
2
SE compressor set. By means of compensation the µAD can dynamically modify the chiller compres-
sor set in order to save energy.
•Environmental mode:
mode used for management of the environmental temperature, measured by
the µAD internal probe.
•Process Mode:
“Process Chiller” type application mode. Micro Chiller adjusts the plant uniquely
depending on the compressors adjustment set point.
•Heat pump
: chiller with possibility of producing hot water.
•RS485:
serial network that connects µAD to the controls.
•RTC:
Real Time Clock
