Operation
Before initial use
• Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the product.
• Both the carafe and its lid are dishwasher safe.
• Before initially using the coffee maker you should run the machine through
two to three filtration cycles at full water capacity but without coffee grounds.
This should also be done when the appliance has not been used for a while
and after descaling.
General
The measuring scale on the water reservoir and the carafe makes it easier for you
to fill the reservoir with the correct amount of water. Each has dual scales. The left
scale represents 125 ml normal size cups, while the right scale is used for smaller
cups. Make sure that the maximum water capacity is not exceeded.
• Do not remove the reservoir without first turning off the appliance.
• If you intend to brew several pots of coffee you should turn it off after every
brewed pot and let the machine rest for about 5 minutes between brewing.
Brewing
1. Open the lid and fill the reservoir with the desired amount of water.
Replace the lid. Attach the reservoir to the coffee maker and press down
to open the bottom valve.
2. Open the filter compartment by pressing the swing-out filter release button.
Insert a size 4 paper filter into the filter holder.
3. For every 125 ml cup about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons) of ground coffee is
needed. Close the filter compartment after filling with coffee and make sure that
it is locked into place.
4. Attach the carafe lid and place the carafe into place. Make sure the carafe lid is
correctly in place; otherwise the drip-stop mechanism on the filter assembly will
not operate during brewing.
5. Plug the coffee maker into a convenient wall socket and switch it on using the
on/off button.
6. Wait until all the water has run through the filter before trying to remove the
carafe from the machine.
7. The coffee can be kept warm in the carafe if you leave it on the hotplate.
The hotplate will stay warm until the machine is turned off. Always turn off the
appliance after use and remove the plug from the wall socket.
