Reducing the flicker’s effect from
fluorescent lights when shooting*
The viewfinder is equipped with effective display
functions for effective shooting
This is effective when shooting continuously using a high shutter speed
Switching shooting functions while looking through the viewfinder is easy
When the viewfinder
electronic level is set to
[Display], the electronic
level will appear at the top
of the viewfinder. The
large, easy to see
viewfinder display makes
it easier to check camera
tilt when shooting.
This was shot with the
[Anti-flicker shoot.]
function. With this
function, uneven exposure
due to flicker effects was
avoided when shooting.
Photos taken without the
Anti-flicker shooting
function result in uneven
exposure when using
continuous shooting.
When this function is used,
the camera will detec t
flickering cycles in the light
source and shoot at an
appropriate time in order
to reduce the ef fec t of
flickering on the exposure
and color balance.

The Intelligent Viewfinder II on the EOS 7D
Mark II is an intelligent viewfinder capable of
displaying a rich variety of information in an
easy to view format. Especially useful items that
can be displayed in the viewfinder are the
electronic level and function setting information
(can be shown or hidden according to settings).

When shooting under fluorescent lighting with
a fast shutter speed, flickering can result in
uneven exposure at the top and bottom of the
screen, and produce uneven exposure levels.
Although adverse effects from flickering is due
to a tiny difference in shooting timing, with
Anti-flicker shooting, the camera detects the
frequency of the light source’s blinking and
the AF area selection mode represented by the
AF frame, can be checked in the viewfinder,
making switching functions for shooting easier
without ever taking your eye away from the
viewfinder. Coupled with the easy to use
buttons and levers while looking through the
viewfinder, a new control system is now
available.
