6. Carriage Error

Visually check if carriage moves during initialization.
Open the cover and
switch on
• Check for paper jam, carriage belt wear/degradation/displacement, bent carr
guide frame, and guide shaft damage/bending.
• Move the carriage by hand and check for smoothness and unusual noise. Che
any creasing on the carriage ribbon cable.
• Check if encoder film, carriage motor connector, and carriage ribbon cable ar
attached correctly.
2. Replace carriage
board.
3. Replace carriage
ribbon cable.
Connect/disconnect service parts No. OH2-2333.
(Note: 3 different types of carriage cables
are used.)
1. Replace encoder film

Perform the check after disconnecting
the carriage motor cable from logic board.
Check carriage motor
Replace logic board.
