Installing the Ink Cartridge
If your print quality is not crisp and clear, be sure to clean the
print head before determining whether you need to replace the
cartridge. If you clean the print head several times and your print
quality does not improve, you need to replace the cartridge.
There are two print head cleaning procedures -- one for a new
ink cartridge (described later in this chapter ) and one for print
quality problems (described in Chapter 7, Troubleshooting).
NOTE: Print head cleaning is not a routine maintenance
procedure. Only clean the print head if you are installing a new
ink cartridge or your print quality is inadequate.
CAUTION: Canon makes two ink cartridges that fit the printer;
the BC-01 is designed specifically for the Bubble Jet Printer BJ-
10sx. There fore, use only the BC-01 cartridge with this printer.
To avoid spilling ink, follow these precautions:

Do not touch the print head on the ink cartridge or the
sharp edges around it.

Do not hold the ink cartridge, or place it on a surface,
with the print head facing down.
