BUBBLE CIRCUIT CALIBRATION
1.
Connect the MGL HP delivery system to GentleLASE laser.
2.
Install cryogen canister into the laser per the procedure in the Operator’s Manual.
Turn on the GentleLASE laser. System should display a warm-up message. Warm-
up takes approximately 20 minutes.
3.
The DCD unit must complete warm-up prior to the following tests! The cryogen is
fully warmed up when the canister pressure on the maintenance screen is between
118 and 122 PSI.
4.
Insure that the cryogen line is full of cryogen and contains no bubbles. This can be
accomplished by placing the GentleLASE laser into “Standby”. While in “Standby”,
set the spray duration to 100mS; momentarily depress the “Purge” button on the
second display screen (while pointing the handpiece in a safe direction) and listen.
You should hear a smooth flow of mist exiting the handpiece for 100mS. If bubbles
are present, the exit will not be a smooth “hiss”. Depress the “Purge” button until the
cryogen discharges smoothly.
5.
If bubbles cannot be cleared by purging, check to be sure the cryogen tank is fully
warmed (usually 10 - 15 minutes with all the covers on the laser is sufficient to bring
the tank to 120PSI). If tank is warm and bubbles persist, the cryogen tank is probably
low. Replace canister per procedure in the Operator’s Manual.
6.
Locate TP30(+) and TP31 (gnd) on the CPU Laser I/O PCB and attach a DVM to
these test points.
7.
Check the DVM reading. It must be 7.75V +/- 0.5V.
8.
IF adjustment is required open the delivery system handpiece; adjust potentiometer
R5(WARNING: do not adjust R4, handpiece sense pot) on the MGL HP PCB for a
DVM reading of 7.75V +/- 0. 5V @ TP30 and TP31. Close the handpiece and tighten
the screws.
9.
Disconnect the cryogen QC at the front panel bulkhead connector. Turn the DCD
valve on by pressing the HP Valve button on the TOGGLE screen until the cryogen is
completely discharged from the handpiece assembly. Verify the voltage on the CPU
I/O PCB at TP30 (+) and TP31 (-) is greater than 10.50 VDC. Also verify that the HP
BBL is highlighted. Turn the valve off.
10.
Reconnect the cryogen line to the front panel bulkhead connector. Verify that within
two minutes, the HP BBL is not highlighted and the voltage on the CPU I/O PCB at
TP30 (+) and TP31 (-) returns to 7.75 VDC
±
0.5 VDC.
11.
In the maintenance screen toggle the BBL Ckt Test on (highlighted) and verify the
voltage on the CPU I/O PCB at TP30 (+) and TP31 (-) is greater than 10.50 VDC and
