Swing Arm and Wheel Hub
Inspection
Check
these
parts
for
damages
(cracks, excessive play or corrosion
pin-holes) at each 25 hours or at each
1250 km (800 mi). If one of these
damages is detected
DO NOT USE
THE VEHICLE AND SEE AN AUTHO-
RIZED CAN-AM DEALER

WARNING
Never ride a vehicle with a de-
fective swing arm or a defective
wheel hub.
Lubrication
Lubricate the swing arm with suspen-
sion synthetic grease (P/N 293 550
033) or an equivalent.
Drive Chain
Adjust the drive chain before every
ride.
WARNING
Unless otherwise indicated,
al-
ways turn ignition switch to the
OFF position before you check,
adjust or lubricate the drive chain.
Inspection
This vehicle is equipped with O-ring
sealed permanently greased pins and
rollers. Before operating the vehicle,
always inspect the drive chain.
Check for damage or missing O-ring,
rollers and correct slack adjustment.
Lubrication and Cleaning
CAUTION:
Never wash the chain
with a high pressure washer or
gasoline.
Damage to the O-ring
will result, causing premature wear
and drive chain failure.
Clean the side surfaces of the chain
with a dry cloth.
NOTE:
Do not brush chain.
Lubricate only with an approved O-ring
chain lubricant.
Other commercial
chain lubricants may contain solvent
which could damage the O-rings.
Adjustment
NOTE:
Always adjust drive chain with
the driver, or equivalent weight, seat-
ed on the vehicle.
Select a level surface and set trans-
mission to NEUTRAL.
Loosen rear axle lock bolts.

Insert adjuster lock through sprocket
hub and into eccentric axle housing.
