contact is made with other devices, and whether the site experiences cold
temperatures or extreme changes in temperature. Alkaline battery discharge
periods from several months up to one year are anticipated. Spend some time
observing the CRVW3 in operation to formulate and refine the optimal battery
maintenance schedule for your stations.
The –ALK battery pack should have arrived from the factory with the D-cell
batteries already installed and the battery pack secured inside the enclosure. To
power-up the CRVW3 using this pack, connect the battery connector to the
CRVW3 panel as shown here:

Connection
LED activity should immediately occur on the CRVW3 indicating startup and
operation. If no LED activity is observed, the batteries may be discharged and
should be checked and replaced if necessary.
When changing out the batteries, disconnect the power connector, and remove
the battery pack from the CRVW3 by disengaging the securing latch (push on
the metal backing for the hinge to snap out). Once the battery pack is removed
from the enclosure, you can remove the old D-cells, and insert the new D-cells.
The battery pack can then be placed back into the CRVW3 enclosure and the
latch secured. Ensure that the bumpers on the pack contact the latch and that
the battery pack does not wiggle when pressed.

8.2.2.2 Rechargeable Battery Option (–RC)
If you selected the –RC option when ordering your CRVW3, a 7 Ahr
rechargeable battery is used to power the device. You will need a solar panel or
some other DC voltage source (16 V to 28 V) to recharge the battery. Due to
