SOFT START TECHNOLOGY
Soft Start technology extends the life of the lamp by stopping the current flow to the lamp and preventing
overloading of the lamp. When the ballast starts cold, there will be a delay of 3 seconds before ignition.
After ignition, there will be a series of random delays of 0-2 seconds before the total brightness is reached
after about 3 to 5 minutes. SoftStart technology is also activated when you increase and decrease the power
of the lamp using the Smart-Step function.
RE-IGNITION OF THE HOT LAMP AFTER A POWER FAILURE
The CALITEK digital ballast uses a timed re-cut system that prevents the ballast from hitting a hot flash again
after a power failure. If a hot lamp is detected, the re-attack will be delayed for 60 seconds until the lamp has
cooled sufficiently to be reset. The reset is then controlled by the software ‘SmartStart Ignition Control’ and
‘Soft Start Technology’.
COMPATIBILITY OF THE LAMP
The digital ballast CALITEK is suitable for use with all CMH lamps of good quality. For a guaranteed perfect
combination and the best results, we recommend the horticultural lamps CALITEK. CALITEK lamps are opti-
mized for use with high efficiency electronic ballasts with adjustable output.
AUTOMATIC FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENT
The CALITEK digital ballast automatically adjusts its output frequency to maintain a constant output regardless
of input power fluctuations and aging lamps. This also prevents ‘the lamp flashes’.
OPERATING TEMPERATURE
The CALITEK case design acts as a superior heat sink, making the ballast extremely cool while running without
the need for internal fans.
COMPLETE CIRCUIT PROTECTION
The CALITEK digital ballast uses a sophisticated system-controlled circuit control system that is not seen in
other manufacturers’ ballasts. The system protects against a series of faults, including: open circuit protection,
short circuit protection, overvoltage protection, live protection and overheating protection. On ignition, the
ballast performs a 3 second circuit test and, in the event of a fault, the ballast will enter protection mode to
prevent ballast and lamp damage.
RF SHIELD
The CALITEK digital ballast has a superior RF shielding with total harmonic distortion (THD) below 10%, which
means it does not interfere with television or radio equipment.
SILENT OPERATION
The CALITEK digital ballast has no noisy internal fans and is completely silent in operation.
HIGH ENERGY EFFICIENCY
CALITEK digital ballast is up to 30% more efficient than standard magnetic ballast, producing more lumens of
light per watt of power consumed. Efficiency does not decrease and is maintained throughout the life of the unit.
