Connecting a Workgroup Product to a CSX100 via PPP

Under AppleTalk Port Information, configure a WAN UnNumbered port:
•
Select the WAN UnNumbered port type.
d. Under AppleTalk Static Routes, configure a static route to Central:
•
Enter Extended for Central’s network type (the default).
•
Enter 10-13 as the destination network range (Central’s network range).
•
Enter 0.0 as the next hop (it’s over an unnumbered link).
•
Enter Central as the next hop’s device name.
•
Enter 2 as the number of hops for this route.
•
Enter Engineering as Central’s default zone name.
•
Enter Marketing as Central’s second zone name.

Under Security, select System Options and Information, then under System Information:
a.
Set your System Name (Remote). This matches up with Remote device information
configured on Central.
b.
Set your System Secret (Remote_S). This matches up with Remote device information
configured on Central.

In this section, we describe the configuration steps required for connecting a workgroup product
to a CSX100 via PPP. Separate instructions are included for two router-to-router applications,
IP
and
IPX
, and two router-to-bridge applications,
IPX
and
AppleTalk
.
The documentation assumes that you are able to run QuickSET and have it find your CSX100. If
you are unable to run QuickSET, please refer to the Read Me First document on the CyberSWITCH
100 Family with QuickSET CD-ROM.

ONFIGURATION
With Network Address Translation (NAT), the CSX100 has one real IP address on the WAN and
you can create your own IP addresses on the LAN. Using DHCP, you can create any range of
addresses for the PC’s on the LAN to use. When a PC requests to access the WAN, the CSX100
sends its own valid WAN IP address instead of the address on the PC. The outside world is
unaware of the IP addresses used on the LAN. NAT reduces the number of IP addresses needed
for a remote network by using only one address, instead of needing one address for the router, and
one address for each PC on the remote network.
