Getting Started
AC Adapter Charging (optional):
Using the AC Adapter,
connect the power plug to 120V AC power. Connect
opposite end (Mini USB connector) to the bottom of the
CC at the
Mini USB Connection
.
Note:
The Mini USB connector will only insert one way.
Do not force the plug “in”. While connected to the AC power
adapter, you will be able to play and use the CC
as normal.
Note:
If your CC is used and charged daily then
it is best to replace the battery every two years. There is a
chance of overheating near the end of the normal life cycle
of any lithium type battery.
Note:
In some cases you will get better AM reception with
the AC Adapter disconnected.
Disconnect from Charging:
You can stop charging at any
time. To remove Mini USB Connector, pull it out gently.
Computer Charging:
Using the supplied USB cable,
connect the mini USB connector end to your CC
at the
mini
USB Connection
.
Connect the opposite end (with the regular USB plug) to
your computer. When connected, the screen will display
“USB Connected”. (While connected to a Windows 2000 or
Windows XP computer, it is possible to play the
CC , but you must de-activate the data transfer
between the CC and your computer.)
See page 25.
Note:
The CC Witness Plus includes a Lithium-Ion battery pack
and safety precautions are necessary with this type of battery.
Typically, any device with rechargeable lithium batteries should
have the battery replaced after approximately 300-500 charge
cycles (or two to three years). If you notice playback on a fully
charged battery is significantly less than it used to be (80% of
original run time) or the unit becomes excessively hot during a
charge cycle, these are good indicators that it is time to replace
the battery.
Battery industry professionals state that Lithium rechargeable
batteries should not be used or stored in environments that
exceed 60 C (140 F). For these reasons the CC Witness Plus
should not be stored in a location that can reach high temperatures
such as a closed automobile or sunny window ledge.
High temperatures can cause the battery to fail.
