3 Use
3.1 Proper use
The RO
3
UV unit (hereinafter referred to as the “product”) is used to
ensure flawless microbiological water quality in water storage tanks.
The combination of the oxidising effect of ozone with the disinfecting
effect of ultraviolet light makes the product ideal for environmentally
friendly water treatment and disinfection.
Proper use requires that the product is positioned, installed, operated
and maintained according to the instructions and provisions in this
documentation.
3.2 Foreseeable misuse
Operating the product with systems other than those specified in this
documentation and in section 3.1.
Failure to comply with the operating and ambient conditions specified in
the technical data (see chapter “12 Technical data”, page 33).
Not adhering to the prescribed maintenance and service intervals (see
chapter “11 Maintenance”, page 32).
Using spare parts and consumables not approved by BWT.
3.3 Disclaimer
The manufacturer is released from any liability if the customer intention-
ally or forcibly removes guards or safety devices, if the customer wilfully
modifies or circumvents the same, or if the customer does not follow the
instructions in this operating manual or on the product.
3.4 Other applicable documentation
Observe all documents from suppliers that were included with delivery.
These are considered part of this documentation and must not be
changed or removed.

4 Functional Description
The water is fed through the Bewades RO
3
UV by a circulation pump
supplied by the customer.
A combination of two procedures (UV disinfection and ozone oxidation)
is used to minimise microbial reproduction and reduce the formation of
biofilms in water tanks.
Firstly, a dirt trap collects solids to protect the product. The water is
then radiated with UV light (UV-C with a wavelength of 254 nm). This
effectively inhibits micro-organisms commonly found in water.
Downstream from that, a T-piece is installed through which the UV-treat-
ed water is supplied directly to the consumer or guided back to the
water tank.
Water that continues to flow through the product is metered with an
ozone-air mixture. For this purpose, the Venturi injector generates a
vacuum to suck in ambient air and guides it through the ozone boosters.
The ozone boosters convert the oxygen in the ambient air into ozone
through an electrical corona discharge.
The injector introduces the ozone-air mixture into the circulation water,
where the ozone acts as an oxidative disinfectant and reduces the growth
of biofilm inside the tank.
In general, disinfection means a 99.99% reduction in the pathogenic
germs found in the water (4 log levels). The UV disinfection process
does not change the chemistry, pH value, colour or taste of the water.
A colour operating state indicator (illuminated b) (

housing indicates the operating state of the product:
