the unit (Figure 3). upon pressing
the power button, you will hear
an audible click, and the thermal
imager will display the Edge logo.
a thermal image will appear within

of black, white and gray elements indicating heat signatures of objects and
scene dynamics. warmer elements appear as lighter shades, while cooler
elements appear as darker shades.
To turn off power, depress the power button.
Battery Status Indicator
a battery status indicator, located at the bottom center of the display, indicates the
remaining battery charge for the Edge. a full charge is indicated by a full green bar
in the battery indicator. during operation, the bar will deplete from left to right,
changing to yellow when it reaches 50% charge, and then to red when it reaches
25% charge. at 10% remaining charge, the red bar will flash.
NoTE
You will periodically observe a momentary freeze in the image. This is normal
and is a function of the self calibration shutter. The shutter will activate
every 30 seconds to three minutes, depending on the environment.
White-Hot / Black-Hot Polarity Control and
“Nocturnal” Mode
Edge can be switched from the standard white-hot polarity to black-hot polarity.
when Edge is first powered-on, it is in white-hot mode, meaning that hotter
objects are colored white (Edge will display “wH” in the bottom right corner).
To activate the polarity control, locate the rubber cover on the top of the thermal
imager. Press the left side of the cover (left button) once to switch polarity to
black-hot (Edge will display “BH” in the bottom right corner). Switching polarity
can help reveal scene details depending on the situation and environment.
Pressing the left button again activates “nocturnal” mode (Edge will display “n”
in the bottom right corner). with nocturnal mode active, your eyes adjust faster
when looking away from the display in low light conditions, allowing you to more
quickly acclimate to your environment.
Pressing the left button again will return Edge to white-hot polarity.
Display Brightness Control
In situations requiring user concealment, Edge provides a display-dimming and
display-off capability. when Edge is first powered-on, the display is set to full-on.
To dim the display, locate the rubber cover on the top of the thermal imager. Press
the right side of the cover (right button) once to dim the display. Press again to
turn the display off.
Pressing the right button again will return the display to full-on.
