5.6  Measuring and monitoring voltage

Measurement

In  parallel  to  measuring  impedance,  the  terminal  voltage  is
measured.  The  measurement  range  can  be  switched  between
5V and 60V.

As long as the voltage values are within the voltage monitoring

range  (see  section  4.5),  the  button  is  green.  If  the  value  goes  above  or  below  this
range,  the colour changes to red. When monitoring is switched off, the button turns
grey.

Monitoring

The  battery  voltage  can  be  monitored
in order to avoid overdrives or complete
dis

charge. To do this, click on the “ex-

tras” tab and turn monitoring “ON”. You
can  now  enter  a  lower  and  upper  volt-
age  limit  in  the  right-hand  boxes  and
set them using the (<==) button.

When  the  values  exceed  the  limits  set,  the  green button next  to  the  battery  voltage
display  turns  red.  At  the  same  time,  the  measurement  current  is  turned  off  and  the
discharge of the battery caused by the impedance measurement  ends. The voltage
and temperature measurements continue.
The digital output is also turned off. In other words, a switch is closed. This switch is
a  potentially  isolated  transistor  switch  and  can  be  used  as  both  a  high-side  and  a
low-side  switch.  The  output  is  electrically  isolated  and  relays  or  SPS  inputs  can  be
connected.

Notes:

When inputting voltage values, use the decimal point to separate decimals.

A grey button next  to the voltage display indicates that  the voltage monitoring is
switched off.

When  the  measurement  current  is  switched  off,  there  is  still  a  slight  discharge
caused by the input resistance of the voltage measurement (ca. 50kΩ).

The two voltage limits are not permanently stored. When the current
is interrupted, the default values (0V, 60V) are reset.
