Figure 7 Typical Macintosh Installer
The above screenshot is from a Brother HL-5000 series printer driver. However, you
will see a similar screen for all Brother printers that include a Macintosh printer
driver. See the Quick Setup Guide supplied with your printer for instructions on how
to install the Macintosh printer driver.
How to Select the Print Server
(AppleTalk/EtherTalk)
After installing the PPD, use the following steps to select the printer driver:
1. Turn the power of the printer ON.
2. Open the Applications folder.
3. Open the Utilities folder.
4. Open the Print Center icon.
5. Click the Add Printer icon.
6. Select
AppleTalk.
7. Select BRO_xxxxxx_P1_AT and click the Add button.
For AppleTalk connections, the printer’s AppleTalk service name is
BRO_xxxxxx_P1_AT, where xxxxxx is the last six digits of the Ethernet address.
To confirm the Ethernet address you can print a configuration page using a fine ball
point pen to hold down the Test button on the back of the print server for less than 5
seconds.
Refer to Appendix of this user guide how to print the configuration page.
8. From the Printer Model pull-down list select your model.
9. Click Add and the printer will be available from the Printer List.
