Switch Components
The SilkWorm 3800 switch includes the following components:
•
Cabinet-mountable 1U chassis designed to be mounted in a 19 inch cabinet space, with
forced-air cooling that flows from the non-port side of the switch to the port side
•
16 fibre channel ports, compatible with SFP transceivers, SWL and LWL.
•
One RS-232 serial port (DB-9 connector)
•
One IEEE-compliant RJ-45 connector for use with 10/100 Mbps ethernet or in-band
•
A total of 36 LEDs:
-
One Switch Status LED on left of the port side
-
One Port Status and one Port Speed LED for each of the 16 ports
-
One Power Supply LED on the back of each power supply
-
One Port Readiness LED on the non-port side of the switch
•
Two universal input and redundant power supplies with AC switches and built-in fans
•
Two fan assemblies, each containing two fans that provide adequate cooling for the
maximum switch power rating
•
Three digital thermometers
•
A field-replaceable motherboard completely enclosed in an EMI (electromagnetic
interference) enclosure tray, with logic and chassis ground connected to the chassis
•
A real-time clock (RTC) with a 10-year battery
