Switch module configuration
The Fabric OS command line interface (CLI) and the Brocade Web Tools application are used to
configure the switch module. For further details, refer to the
Fabric OS Command Reference
and
Web
Tools Administrator’s Guide
. Refer to the switch module release notes for the Fabric OS version
support. If the same operation can be performed using the Inspur Shangri-la Blade Server chassis
management GUI, it is recommended that you use that application instead.
You can configure the Brocade 6542 16-Gbps FC Switch Module to operate on a network and fabric.
You can also change the switch module’s operating modes (Fabric OS Native mode and Access
Gateway mode).
NOTE
Although the Brocade 6542 16-Gbps FC Switch Module is configured at the factory for Fabric OS
Native mode, you can enable it for Access Gateway mode at any time.
Items required for configuration
Before you begin the switch module configuration, make sure the management GUI is configured
correctly and that your workstation is properly connected. Refer to the support documentation
that comes with your blade server chassis.
The following items are required for configuring and connecting the switch module for use in a network
and fabric:
• A switch module installed in a blade server chassis
• A workstation with access to the management GUI
• A serial cable to connect to the switch module serial console port (if required)
NOTE
Use of a serial cable is required only if you are not changing the switch module IP address through
the management GUI or CLI management programs.
